Raw Material Prices Rise Again Print E-mail

Nickel prices break the $34 / Tonne markIncreases in the alloy surcharge and a healthy demand in a global market are continuing to drive increases in the cost of stainless steel products.

The price of stainless steel is determined by adding the metal base price and an alloy surcharge. The alloy surcharge varies on a monthly basis as it is determined by the cost of a number of commodities that are used in the production of stainless steel. Currency fluctuations, cuts in global production of stainless steel in 2007, increased global demand and Investors that have been attracted to the market as these commodities trade at record highs, have all contributed to escalating prices of stainless steel.

ACS’s aim remains to bring market-leading products to the industry at competitive prices.
